Adaeze was diagnosed with sickle cell disease at age 3. Growing up, she faced countless hospital visits, painful crises, and moments of despair.
But she refused to let her condition define her life. "I remember telling myself that I wouldn't be a victim. I would be a warrior," she recalls.
Today, at 27, she runs a support group for young warriors across Lagos State, sharing her experience and providing hope to others facing similar challenges.
"SCD is part of me, but it doesn't have to be my entire story," she says. "We are more than our diagnosis. We are dreams, we are hope, we are warriors."
Adaeze now speaks at schools and community events, breaking down the stigma around sickle cell and encouraging young people to know their genotype.
