Amara was 15 when she was diagnosed with sickle cell disease. Before that, she had suffered through years of unexplained pain and fatigue.
"My diagnosis explained everything, but it also terrified me. I thought my life was over before it had even begun."
But with the support of her family and a dedicated medical team, Amara learned to manage her condition and thrive. She is now a professional photographer, capturing the beauty of life through her lens.
"Living with SCD taught me to cherish every moment. I don't take anything for granted. Every sunrise, every smile, every breath—I celebrate it all."
Amara's photography exhibition, "Warriors in Focus," has traveled across Nigeria, showcasing the strength and beauty of people living with sickle cell disease.
